Back in September, I wrote that I had, after many years of owning an iPhone, just discovered the joys of podcasts. And, I listed a few that I had started to listen to. Since then, I have found quite a few more that I regularly enjoy - some are listed on the Links page. Of all those that I listen to, the one that I wait for most eagerly is On Taking Pictures. Like most of my other favorites, it's not so much about gear or technical aspects of photography. Instead, it's largely about the things that go on behind the photographers' eye.
Every week, Jeffery Saddoris and Bill Wadman take on the art, science, and philosophy of photography and explore how they play out behind the camera in the process of making images. Insider insights for the novice, shop talk for the professional, and opinionated discussion for the interested observer of the field's trends and legacy.
The show is usually a little under two hours, and I find it to be one of my favorite ways to while away the hours I spend driving two and from work each day. There's also an active and friendly community that has grown up around the podcast on Google+.
As I announced on the Orchard Studios web site, I'll soon be launching a podcast of my own. I can only hope that one day it will be half as good as On Taking Pictures.
