On our visit to Oxford, we happened to catch a sailing regatta. The boats racing are Shields, a 30-foot, one-design racing sailboat.
Sometimes, I miss having a boat, but most of the time, I remember two adages about boats. The first, "a boat is a hole in the water into which one throws money," and the second, "the happiest days in a boater's life are the day he buys his boat and the day he sells her," are both so very true.
As promised, here's the first of the re-worked images from my ramble 'round the Easton, Maryland area last weekend. I think this was taken in the little town of Neavitt, MD, which is on Ball's Creek. This house was at the end of a dead-end street, and I snapped the picture from the car as I was turning around to head back up the road and make my way back to Easton.
Fujifilm X-E1, Fujifilm XF 18-55mm at 42mm, f/4, 1/1000 sec, ISO 320. Processed using Lightroom 5.4 and OnOne Perfect Effects 8.5.
We went up to Gettysburg last night. Gettysburg is one of my least favorite places, because I have less than no interest in the Civil War, and really, Gettysburg is one big Civil War tourist trap. And yet, there we were. Before we go any further, I think that there's a law that requires anyone going to Gettysburg to take a picture of a cannon. So, to keep from being arrested or fined or something, here's a picture of a cannon.
Okay, with that out of the way, we wandered around looking for a couple of specific patches of battlefield. I know we found one; I'm not certain about the other. Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures, some of which almost qualified as photographs, and then I trashed them though Lightroom and OnOne Perfect Effects. Have a look at the results. As usual, click a thumbnail to see bigger pictures. But, you knew that...
Seriously, we did have a very nice time. It was a gorgeous evening, and a really nice night for a drive 'round the battlefield. We only collected two ticks and the odd mosquito bite.
As I mentioned at the top, I pre-processed all the pictures in Lightroom before subjecting them to my OnOne Perfect Effects torture. For those interested, here's the output from Lightroom.
Now, I'm off to clean up my hard drive before the laptop crashes completely....
