Sunday Morning Melt

I was sitting at the kitchen table after breakfast this morning and glanced out the kitchen window. The sun was blasting through the melting ice on the tree in our back yard, and I had to make some pictures. As usual, I reached for the Fujifilm X10 -- there was no thought of using the Sony -- and headed out onto the back deck.

Our back deck is completely screened in, so I was forced to shoot through the screens, creating a little bit of a "star filter" effect in some of the images.

Into Winter on Assateague

Before heading home today, we ventured over to Assateague Island to see how things have progressed since Hurricane Sandy. There's still a lot of damage to both the southern and northern ends of the island yet to be repaired. And, time is continuing to take its toll on the old farmhouse on Assateague Road. A few images from today:

The End of November

A few shots from today's visit to Chincoteague National Seashore and Chincoteague, VA.

Images shot with a Fujifilm X10 or Sony Alpha SLT-A35. All processing in Photoshop Lightroom 5.2.

I went back-and-forth between the Sony and Fuji cameras today. I kept finding the Sony to be frustrating -- almost to the point of distraction. In the end, I used a couple more pictures from the Sony, more because of compositions than anything else.

On the Boardwalk

Over Christmas, Donna and I ventured down to the Ocean City boardwalk to take a few pictures. There were a few people about, but for the most part, the place was pretty much buttoned up.

A number of these are in-camera HDR images, made with the Sony Alpha SLT-A35. The panorama was also made in-camera using the pano mode. I also experimented with other picture styles, and did a little of my typical post production.
